Adrian’s Friends Association supports a different, multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of blood and bone marrow disorders: a hematologist, psychologist, naturopath and life coach working together as a team.
This was the theme of the conference we organized in celebration of the “International Marrow Donor Day” yesterday, September 14th at the Phoenicia Grand Hotel, in partnership with Pfizer Romania.
The conference reunited patients, on the one side, and doctors, psychologists and naturopaths, on the other, in a context promoting open communication and coperation.
The event brought together 50 patients and a number of reputable specialists in the field: dr. Mihaela Andreescu, dr. Alina Tanase, dr. Horia Bumbea, dr. and naturopath Ruxandra Constantina, psychologist Ionut Ghiugan, life-coach Carmen Chioțea, dr. and journalist Dorin Chiotea. The event was moderated by Simona Dragomir – health & lifestyle TV-show host.
We want a greater level of interest and involvement from the patients, that is the only way we can improve the way they are treated. A close relationship and open dialogue are required for this to be possible. Firstly, patients have to communicate their needs, so that the healthcare team can get to know the patient, his lifestyle and expectations. In doing so, we can achieve what is known as “personalized medicine”, adapted to each patient’s individual profile.
“I fight for life, a better life for the hematological patient. I fight for the choice of individual-adapted therapies and I fight for a multidisciplinary approach in disease management, one that includes psychotherapy and life-coaching support” (dr. Mihaela Andreescu)
